giving voices to victims

Prey Tell Podcast
Sexual harassment, sexual assault, bullying, discrimination, and other forms of abuse are perpetuated daily, in groups and organizations from families all the way up to global collectives. We seek to give voices to the victims, and bring light and change to the dynamics that perpetuate this status quo.
"Group psychological abuse refers to groups where methods of psychological abuse are frequently or systematically used on their members. Such abuse would be practices that treat the members as objects one is free to manipulate instead of respecting their autonomy, human rights, identity and dignity. In a group like this people can also play mind games with others that can make the victim seem like they are accepted but in actuality they are betraying the victim when his/her back is turned. When the victim requests assistance from the abusing group it is not given. Psychological abuse refers to practices that, simply stated, treat a person as an object to be manipulated and used, rather than as a subject whose mind, autonomy, identity, and dignity are to be honored."
"Dysfunctional families always keep secrets. They may be about sexual abuse, physical and emotional abuse, drug use, time spent in prison, prostitution, incest, infidelity and a number of other unpleasant subjects. They weave incredible stories around their secrets so that no one suspects wrongdoing or evil. When you hide something you are trying to make it invisible, create dark shadows that live in the background. They strive to conceal that which needs to come out, into the light. Healthy families are open, sharing, working problems out together as a family. They don’t conspire among themselves to keep it all a secret.
Which one do you belong to?"
